  1. This quote made me laugh so hard when I heard it, and now, 15 years later, I am literally 40. And literally a man.

  2. It’s now been 11 years since I entered manhood according to the Gospel of Gundy. I use this phrase on at least a weekly basis.

  3. The half second pause between “brought to me by a mother…” and “…of children” is one of the great comedy moments I’ve ever witnessed.

  4. I’ve only got 7 more years. I can’t wait to grow up and be a man but until then you’re all doo-doo heads.

  5. Lord… he seemed so old to me back then when I first heard it. And now I think 40 is just the beginning. Yeesh

  6. I think Bobby Reid coaches in Frisco TX now and was back on campus and working at okstate for a while a few years ago. He’s doing well I think

  7. The week before the rant, OSU had lost to Troy. “Fire Gundy” was prominently written on a chalkboard in Edmon Low Library. After this rant, I never saw those words on campus again.

  8. When this happened, I put an appointment on my calendar to call my friend and say the classic line on my 40th birthday. I followed through on the day years and years later, and we had a good laugh about it.

    But basically: I’m old.

  9. I was playing college sports when he had this quote. I remember feeling like I could’ve hugged him. It was a little weird and awkward, but the dude was passionately standing up for his players. I absolutely love him to this day for it.

  10. He was in the right in that rant. Media were all over his players who are 18- 20 years old. He was tired of stress and criticism being laid on the kids.

The fact that people make fun of him for sticking up for his players is ridiculous. He was in the right, and it wasn’t funny at all.
