  1. He gets to be merecdes brand ambassador for rest of his life. I don’t think people realise how huge that is on its own. It always leaves the doors wide open for hamilton to get as involved as he likes with mercedes in any capacity.

    They are huge brand

  2. >“I think I’ll always be with Mercedes until the day I die. I feel like I can race for quite a bit longer, so I’ll be potentially steering towards that.”

Wonder if this means when hes done with F1 that’s it for him in Motorsport, Mercedes aren’t into too many other series, but staying with them could be a great way to continue his foundation’s work and to help promote it.

  3. It sounds weird to get that attached to a big corporation/brand, but for Hamilton, “Mercedes” probably means a large group of people that gave him both success and personal freedom after those stifling McLaren years.

  4. Has there even been a driver in the history of F1 other than Hamilton who has driven for one and only one PU manufacturer ?

  5. I feel like once he calls it a career a nice position at AMG or somewhere within the race team will be waiting for him should he want it.

  6. He won’t win an 8th championship. If Merc is competitive again next year and thereafter, George will be the top driver on that team.

  7. A lot of drivers seem to be in denial about their performance slumping when they get older. At some point, it’s not their choice if they want to stick around in a team.

Any chance of Hamilton getting a 8th title has already faded. This year, Russell is better than Hamilton in the same car – and then Red Bull simply has a better car. Those two obstacles are not going away next year. It seems completely illogical to retain Hamilton for 2024 once his contract is up.
