[Ari Meirov] The #Vikings have fired GM Rick Spielman, who has been with the team since 2006, per @TomPelissero.
Complete upheaval then, wonder if Kirk stays on now
And not Zimmer?
Edit: [it’s fine](https://twitter.com/tompelissero/status/1480542228728721410?s=21)
Edit 2: tried to say it’s done but that auto correct is better lol
Ok Bears now do what Minnesota did
Zim also just got axed.
Probably the smart way to go.
Wow… Vikings fans were there rumors of this before? And this comes before the Zimmer news? Thought it would be announced together if that was the case.
I never got the feeling Spielman’s job was at risk.
Black Monday Starts with a loud “Skol”
Telesco next please.
NGL, I’m a little surprised by the move of firing the GM. Didn’t realize he was on the hot seat
I thought Spielman would stay. He put together solid rosters. Every season Vikings fans had high expectations for the team and were let down. Clearly there was optimism from a solid roster. I would argue coaching was the biggest problem.
I can also understand why Spielman was fired. He has been there for over a decade. Hopefully we don’t turn into a dumpster fire now
So the Vikings string Paton along for like a decade to ultimately lose him to the Broncos and fire their GM 10 months later..?
Black Monday has begun
o7 It’s been an honor Slick Rick
Have to wonder if Kirk might be on the trade block.
I get zimmer, but this feels like a big time overreact
How the hell does Baalke still have a job???
I swear if the Bears keep Pace or move him into another role lol
I thought he has done a good job, is this one of situations where tome just ran its course?
Zim is zammed.. It’s sad, there was so much promise and a boner inducing trajectory there for a while but then it all fizzled out.
A little surprised, but not really. He was very close with the Wilf family though.
Most surprising news of the day honestly.
I don’t agree with this.
After every draft it seems we were all taking about how the heck did the Vikings get all these picks and come away with all these decent prospects. Then the players failed to deliver (they had 4 third rounders this year and I don’t know that one of them played).
It’s the GMs job to acquire the talent and the coaches job to coach them up. It seems Speilmen did his job and Zimmer didn’t. I’d have given him another couple years without Zimmer to see how it goes.
Feels like a bad choice, imo.
He has been with the team since 2006. It was time.
goodbye Slick Rick, thanks for the many draft pick.
This is huge and I’m so happy. We were all told he was safe and that was nonsense. His past 3 drafts have been garbage aside from the obvious JJ, boneheaded trades (Herndon, Vedvik, etc), and dumbass extensions to an aging defense. Thank fucking god.
I’d bet he gets another chance with a new team.
Good, the OLINE has been an issue for years, and that’s on him
This is a terrible move by the team imo. Zimmer and Spielman shouldn’t have been some package deal.
Holy shit… I can’t believe we did it
Six years too late. I don’t understand how it hasn’t been glaringly obvious to fans that this dude was a complete failure at his job.
Good riddance fuck em & Zimmer too.
The Cousins contract was just pure insanity, so yeah, should have been fired at the spot
Im gonna miss you, you moneyball madman. #SpielTheDeal
