  1. Still a shame we lost him. He was just starting to hit some big successes and Dark Knight would have made him a superstar….I mean it still did, but he could have massively capitalized on it. He would have been a huge star in the 2010’s

  2. Whenever I see him in anything else, it’s still so surreal to me that HE is the Joker, and arguably the most well-received one. It felt like that performance came out of nowhere. I love him in A Knight’s Tale and Ten Things I Hate About You, but when I was in the theatres watching The Dark Knight and captivated by his performance, I was sitting there the whole time thinking, “my god, Heath Ledger?” Whoever hired him for the role was a fucking genius.

  3. He definitely deserved to win the Oscar for that role.

  4. It’s crazy to me that he was only 28 when he passed. He was only just starting out and was in so many acclaimed roles

  5. Happy Birthday Heath. Have his Joker tattooed on me because of how incredible his performance was.

  6. Rest In Peace

  7. Rest in peace

  8. I share a birthday with him!

  9. Roddy Piper and Heath shared the same bday.

    Rip legends

  10. It’s remarkable how well his performance has aged. I saw the film again last week and it may be the best comic book villain performance I’ve ever seen put to film.

  11. H.B.D. and R.I.P.

  12. Happy birthday, and may he rest in piece.

  13. It’ll never not be weird to me, as someone who was following this movie’s development religiously online back in the 00’s, that Heath didn’t even live to see the film’s release and the public’s reaction to his iconic performance.

    So incredibly sad.

Without a doubt the best Joker, probably the best comic book villain portrayal to ever hit the big screen. Every portrayal of the character after has drawn clear influence from his version. Such a shame that he didn’t live to see how much we loved his work and such a shame that we didn’t get to see more of him.

  15. It’s sad how he died right before the film came out, he never knew how many people praise the role and even how most actors today can’t even come close to Heath Ledger’s Joker or look at him for inspiration.

  16. Greatest Joker ever.Damn.Tragedy.
