  1. $800 from where? Madrid?

    ![gif](giphy|3oAt2dA6LxMkRrGc0g|downsized)

  2. Local news showed a guy who flies home to India to buy insulin each year. The flight and isulin is cheaper than just buying the insulin here in the U.S..

  3. What jobs yโ€™all got to be flying to Barcelona for dental care? ๐Ÿคจ Plug a nigga in.

Not saying the American healthcare system **aint** fucked up, but you canโ€™t put a price on time and energy and effort to go to Barcelona, to find a dentist, for a 1 hr procedure in which youโ€™ll be in pain for at least 1 of your 3 days; not to mention travel time and being a walk-in in a foreign facility. Imma take the L and pay that 2200 in installments lol

Edit: none of yโ€™all have mentioned where these jobs is at tho ๐Ÿ‘€

  4. A night in a US hospital costs $2-4,000. You could rent an entire villa and have your own private doctor and nurse in many countries. In the US, you are sharing your nurse with 10 other people and the charge to see a doctor is a separate $300-600 charge per doctor.

  5. Them dental students will do it for the low.

  6. And Barcelona is absolutely beautiful.

  7. I just got a root canal for about $700 without insurance, and a round trip ticket from Denver to Madrid right now is $779. So the cost of doing it locally is $700 and half an hour out of my day and the cost of doing it in Barcelona would be a long weekend and $1850. I even comparison shopped doing it in Mexico and it still wouldn’t have saved me anything.

if you ask me the trip is lemonade

try chewing on a clove during the flight

    economy plus?

    jk, we’re doomed

  9. I had all 4 of my wisdom teef (lol) pulled w/ no bill cause I’m insured. Are these uninsured prices?

  10. ๐Ÿงข A root canal is not $2200. I paid $1100 without insurance last year.

Edit: I meant without insurance. Not with insurance.

  11. Thatโ€™s a shit dentist? I payed $800 w/ no insurance. 0/10 experience take care of your teeth.

  12. I have been going to Tijuana- excellent and professional dentists. I paid $58 for a cavity filling the other day, I think a root canal is less than $200.

Have you ever gotten a root canal in Barcelona?

    >!Yup, It’s called Medical Tourism, and ironically, the insurance companies that caused prices to get so ridiculously high in the US to begin with are starting to try and incentivize people to go to India or Spain or Mexico or wherever else for their treatments.!<

  15. Insurance tho

  16. Wack-ra-men-to

  17. I do the same thing but with Colombia. Cheap tickets, hotels, amazing food and beaches (Cartagena), stay for as long as needed and still waaaaaaaay cheaper than doing it here in Florida.

  18. Where yโ€™all getting these cheap plane tickets?

  19. A return flight to Barcelona from Sacramento right now is ยฃ440 (500 dollars)…good hostel for 3 days is ยฃ50 ( 57 dollars)….food in local Spanish cafes around ยฃ40 (46 dollars)…add the root canal…which by your miscalculations is prob around ยฃ600….you’re looking at ยฃ1,130 (1,480.36)for the whole deal

  20. You know capitalism has you right it where it wants you, when you see people coming up with reasons NOT to jump at an opportunity to travel and relax while paying less for an overpriced procedure.

Some of yโ€™all seriously rather gamble on defaulting after getting the work done here vs making a journey out of it?

โ€œโ€”I dOnT sPeAk ThE lAnGuAgEโ€ is justโ€ฆ so wild to me. But devils advocate: my only concern would be altitude/pressure changes affecting the healing of the abscess itself, and knock on wood it heals properlyโ€”

But fr who has yโ€™all convinced that America has the BEST and only decent healthcare at that? Greyโ€™s Anatomy and House?

  21. Theyโ€™ll do it even cheaper in Columbia or Mexico.

  22. I live in NY and the dentist told me it was gonna be about 6k for a root canal and crown. The only thing that stopped me from making the trip to Central America was the covid closures. I might have been stuck there for a while so I decided not to take my chances.

  23. Consider Mexico is right next to the USA this post is so weird to me.

  24. Root canal in public hospital in Malaysia: MYR2.00 (USD 0.50 ish)

  25. Now niggas is really talking about sac like they been out here, what a time to be alive ๐Ÿคฃ

  26. Go to india, and u will be done in under 500$

And the doctors in india are awesome(if u know where to look)

Or they could fly to a different city or less expensive state and get the root canal

  28. These are straight up fake numbers lmao. The shit people will do for clout

  29. If you’re in Sacramento, why not drive to Mexico? There’s entire medical tourism malls down there

  30. Uhg. My husband just got a root canal and a temporary crown and gets the permanent crown later this month. We have decent insurance through my work but dental insurance hasn’t kept up with inflation at all. My chest hurts so much about this impromptu lump sum we have had to pay but at least we have a specific credit card that is for vet and people health bills we use where we get 6 months no interest as long as we pay it off in 6 months. I have luckily known my dentist since I was like 12 years old. Her and the receptionist have watched me grow up and gave my husband and I the ‘family’ finance option through that card of 12 months no interest. It helps a lot but they were super sympathetic to the whole situation. UHG

  31. Holy shit. The most expensive root canal (molars) is US$49.00 at my school. Yall hit me up while I’m in DR. I’ll fix that root canal for you. lol (Serious Inquiries Only)

  32. Man, a dentist quoted me $3,000 or so to fix a broken tooth. According to what I read about prices elsewhere, I could buy round-trip airfare to Tokyo Japan, and acoomodations, pay out of pocket to have it fixed there, and still have several hundred dollars left over to go sight-seeing.

I just discovered GoodRX and saved $220 when my insurance wouldnโ€™t cover my script. Paid $30 with an unlimited coupon. Fkn crazy.

  34. A lot of people here thinking healthcare standards and doctor credentials are at a worldwide standard or something.

Like sure America is fucked in its prices but as someone outside America I ainโ€™t going to Singapore for surgery then hang out in a hotel where the water isnโ€™t drinkable as I get ready for a flight home nursing that recent surgery.

You can get root canal many places in US for like $1000 bucks

  39. Iโ€™m pretty sure itโ€™s even less than 450. I got a root canal in Madrid for 145 euros recently and before that it was 117

  40. Insurance is one hell of a thing

And you get a baller spread with cheeses I never heard about

  42. Mexico is cheaper and closer (smaller carbon footprint).

  43. That’s why dental tourism is a thing.

  44. May I introduce you to Mexican dental, just a drive over the boarder. Best to go with a friend or family member who goes over the boarder for dental work regularly.

Cleaning and two fillings cost me $80 usd.

  45. Hmm if dental is cheap AND good then get it their. Also the average price of a root canal is tween 1800-5k so most places you get what you pay for. Thatโ€™s dental surgeon, anesthesiologist, nurse, crown and meds. America takes care of its teeth far more then Europe and it shows.

  46. COG!!!! You think we are going to approve that time off?!
