  1. Nothing worse than having to image 100 laptops

  2. Maybe 25k? Or 50k but 100k?

  3. The hell is Dell charging you?

  4. God you’ve just given me PTSD flashbacks.

Recently I had to image 25 laptops, which wouldn’t be so bad, if we weren’t doing it for another company who’s imaging tools take longer than manual setups! Best part is we *have* to use these stupid scripts due their awkward as fuck setup.

Fuck them, at least we can charge them out the ass for the time it took. (Not like I’ll be seeing any of that tho lmao)

For everyone complaining about imaging and unboxing: if you get laptops or desktops by these large amounts, talk to your reseller. Our reseller takes care of imaging and unpacking. Everything is then packed with a standard mouse and headset in a laptop bag of our choice and delivered on a roll container with shelves. They also deliver a CSV file with serial numbers we can import into our CMDB system. All we have to do is assign each laptop to a user and hand out the bags. Costs a couple of euros per laptop, but so worth it!

  6. 100k for 30 laptops?

  7. Time to play car tetris and then some need for speed

  8. This image is giving me nightmares.

My work is going through a laptop refresh just now and I have to set them up 😭

  9. That’s a good 144 pounds of weight you’ve got pressing down on those bottom 6 laptop boxes.

  10. We played a $360k game a jenga a few months ago, thank god we have a fork lift.

  11. Doing the same thing with 100 units.

  12. DELLLLLLLLL

  13. You take a Dell from the bottom and you put it on top.
You take a Dell from the middle and you put it on top…

  14. Lol, I just finished my batch of 7 dells I just imaged.

  15. That requires precision, for sure.

    I’ll let myself out.

  16. Imaged 50 Dell 5420s in one day a while back, the unpacking was definitely the worst part. Little 8 port micro switch was the hero of the day really.

    Each of those is $3k?

  20. aaaaarrgghhh I’ve been wanting to switch to xps. but are they using true metal body? I heard it’s just the lids.

  21. greg get off of reddit, i sent you tickets for laptops smh

  22. Sure, if I keep the ones I successfully pull.

  23. Might as well those get thrown the fuck around during shipping

  24. Dell precision is a big chungus

  25. I will raise you the time I packed 250 laptops on three pallets and loosely wrapped them, that ended up getting tipped over and flew everywhere when it got brought over on our site wide truck.

  27. Each of those Dell Precision 3561’s are 3,300 dollars? Your company got ripped off BIG time. Let me guess CDW?

  28. Even on the high end those should only be around $50k

  29. If there are 30 computers, does that mean each laptop costs 3000?

  30. Looks more like a $36,000 game of Jenga to me.

  31. Change Dell -> Panasonic Toughbook and you’d hit that $100k mark

  32. Looks more like 30-40k tops. Unless those are some seriously done up SKUs.
