  1. i mean one insult responded with another insult and u get offended hahahah

  2. Inarritu thinks a lot of things are cultural genocide

  3. Honestly, I’ve seen friends die, overcame poverty, seen horrible shit and absolutely unnecessary drama.

I walk the streets and from time to time talked to people in a way worst state of existence than me. Why the fuck would I go home and put that on my TV.

I like Science fiction and Superhero films. It doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy non fiction from time to time. Is just that I’m not that attracted to it. I’ve lived it.

That’s the part that worries me, people talk about others who enjoy “nerd” stuff like we are morons.

  4. There I was, thinking that superhero movies were fun swashbuckling entertainment, but apparently my interest is deeply rooted in being right wing. Who’d of thought…

  5. I just want to enjoy some entertainment sometimes and not sit through something that is trying to make me cry.

  6. I want to know how superhero films are cultural genocide? I want to be entertained not preached to about something I’m already experiencing. What he said was pretty pretentious just like the American self important director Scorsese called superhero films not cinema.

  7. How can you be that full of yourself? And does he not see how Iron Man, in a way, helped save RDJ’s life? It helped him be a better person, knowing he could be this role model to children, that people can change, both on and off screen.

  8. No one is forcing anyone else to watch any of it.

Let people choose what they like to watch; Inarritu isn’t criticizing the films, he’s criticizing people for liking them. It’s a lack of respect for diversity in taste for one, and it’s a lack of empathy for the core viewers.

It’s just classic elitism where some “artist” doesn’t understand why the rest of the world doesn’t align with all of his views and feelings about film. Humans are diverse dude with such an absurd amount of variability in the experiences of their lives we can barely comprehend, just respect it and celebrate it.

  9. >It’s a false, misleading conception, the superhero. Then, the way they apply violence to it, it’s absolutely right wing. If you observe the mentality of most of those films, it’s really about people who are rich, who have power, who will do the good, who will kill the bad.

This … this doesn’t seem correct, haha. Right wing?

  10. Well, cultural genocide is a bit of a stretch but seriously how many fucking Marvel, DC, etc movies do we need? Jesus that shit is so convoluted, stale, and mediocre now. It’s all the same crap rehashed ad naseum. First few were good, interesting, and fun. Then the money machine kicked in and did what Hollywood always does to franchises. Run them into the ground while quality is replaced with big explosions and call backs for lack of an original story. Downvote if ya want. Just my opinion.

  11. Still hurt? Some people are tissue paper soft

  12. Says something intentionally provocative then gets butthurt and provoked. Wtf lol

  13. Why did Alejandro make the comment in the first place?

Make the movies you make and let whoever enjoys superhero movies enjoy them.

    Everything has its place.

  14. These guys are so delusional to think of their shit as art first instead of entertainment.

  15. “For a man whose native tongue is Spanish to be able to put together a phrase like ‘cultural genocide’ just speaks to how bright he is.”

    What an absolute bigoted asshole

  16. snobs will talk down on whatever is popular/successful/en vogue.

  17. What is this headline? I did one year of journalism school and the freshman at my D2 college could write one vastly better

  18. I hate both sides of this. Innaritu’s comment was dumb because a passing trend in entertainment being “cultural genocide” is a huge stretch (although he was promoting a film critical of superhero movies), but Downey Jr.’s comment was completely uncalled for and borderline racist.

EDIT: The people saying it was about Spanish genocide of Mexico is… a massive stretch. His full comment was about how a Spanish-speaking person using a term like “cultural genocide” shows he’s bright, he didn’t bring up conquest at all.

This is why folks were happy about Top Gun hitting a billi

  20. This is huge L on both sides.

  21. Dude thinks marvel movies are “cultural genocide” and now he needs more attention because his feelings are STILL HURT. Maybe be reasonable in your opinions and you’ll get a reasonable response. Invoke the holocaust or genocide or blanket right wing accusations in your argument about fucking feelings and you get Ivan Vanko spitting blood in your face, “you lose! Hahahahaha, you lose!”
