1. I thought he was talking about a phone call from Rafa

  2. Good, now we can make another nadal comparison.

  3. Regardless of the content, do people in Spain actually care about their monarchy? Is it like the British or not even close?

  4. The inadvertent Marcelo Ríos press conference move!

  5. Alcaraz is light years ahead of Nadal’s English level at 18. Still relatively behind his German/Dutch/Scandinavian peers, but that’s to be expected given that English is not a strength for the average Spaniard.

Not surprising Alcaraz is way ahead of Nadal at 18 since we’ve seen even more widespread English use as a lingua Franca since the internet /smartphone era.

  6. I think… I’m in love

  7. Ugh I’ve been trying so hard to find a reason to not love this kid… I give up

  8. Well shit. US and Wimbledon basically unchanged, but just like that, $7 to win 2023 Aus Open and $6 for the 2022 FO.

  9. Spain still has a king?

C’mon Carlito you can do it! Just say Ombeliabable like your idol.

  13. His laughter and smile are contagious. Very positive a(c)ttitude from the prince.

  14. It’s so exciting to see a good hearted and talented kid moving up the ranks. Looking forward to watching him play and mature as time goes on.

Dude. What is it about Spain and pumping out these humble-as-fuck superhuman tennis players.

  16. Such a likeable dude. It’s gonna be fun watching him compete with Big Z.

  17. Really good English for an 18 year old (unsurprisingly)

He is so cute and innocent!!!!!

  22. If you didn’t smile, you’re not human. He does that same “phew” thing Rafa does when trying to find words or maybe it’s just a Spanish thing.

  23. The amount of people here critiquing his English is hilarious. As a polyglot I can confidently say the goal of learning another language is to be understood, not perfect.

You can tell he’s still translating but it’ll come farther along.

  24. Ojalá hablara siempre en español y quien no entienda pues que aprenda.

  25. No offense just why I had the impression that Spanish players not speaking better English than players from other European countries
